In the early hours of Labor Day, on September 5, 2022, a tragic outburst of violence in North Philadelphia claimed the life of 33-year-old Shakiera Lynn Scott. The incident, a sextuple shooting, unfolded on the 700 block of West Russell Street, leaving a scene of chaos and sorrow.
Shakiera was found at the scene, having sustained gunshot wounds to her head and right shoulder, and was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived.
Alongside her, 19-year-old Christopher Diaz was also fatally wounded, suffering multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries later that morning. The shooting also left four other individuals wounded, their ages ranging from 17 to 55.
As of now, the case remains an open and active investigation. The Philadelphia Police Department lists the murder of Christopher Diaz, and by extension Shakiera Lynn Scott, as an unsolved crime and continues to seek information from the public. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with this devastating act of gun violence.
