Philip Goeble, a 42-year-old male police officer with the Lima Police Department in Ohio, died on June 6, 1900. His death was the result of gunshot wounds he sustained 18 months earlier while attempting to arrest three men wanted for an armed robbery. During the arrest attempt, one of the suspects opened fire, striking Patrolman Goeble multiple times.
