On June 8, 2011, authorities in Detroit, Michigan, made a grim discovery in the 17000 block of Orleans Street on the city's northeast side. Inside a Chevrolet Malibu bearing Ohio license plates, police found the bodies of three individuals who had been shot to death. Among the victims was 26-year-old Donnell Lewis, a Black male from Akron, Ohio, who had been killed alongside two women, 22-year-old Shaynese Sykes and 21-year-old Zipporah Alford.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths were described by law enforcement as an execution-style shooting, with victims sustaining fatal gunshot wounds to the head. The vehicle containing the bodies was located near the intersection of Six Mile Road and I-75. Residents in the neighborhood reported hearing no gunshots, and the car was eventually towed away with the victims still inside before they were formally identified. Following the discovery, investigators from the Detroit Police Department began searching for leads, while officials from the Akron Police Department noted that Lewis was known to them.
Despite the brutal nature of the triple homicide, the case appears to have gone cold. Online databases dedicated to unsolved crimes in Michigan list the murders of Lewis, Sykes, and Alford as unsolved, with no records of arrests or charges filed against any suspects in connection with the incident. Years after the event, the investigation remains open, but no specific individuals have been publicly named as perpetrators by local authorities.
