Troy Sowell-Benson, also known as "TJ," was shot and killed on May 12, 2014, in Detroit, Michigan. He was 28 years old at the time of his death. The homicide took place at around 3:30 p.m. after Troy parked his vehicle outside the Top of the Drive apartments, located at 12880 W. Outer Drive near Schoolcraft. He was shot multiple times in what appeared to be a targeted attack. The murder occurred just 10 days after his 28th birthday, and Troy left behind two daughters.
