On December 5, 1997, Daniel J. Pope, a 35-year-old Cincinnati Police officer, was tragically killed in the line of duty. Officer Pope, along with his partner, Police Specialist Ronald Jeter, was shot while attempting to serve a domestic violence warrant at an apartment on W. Hollister Street. The suspect, Alonzo Davenport, opened fire on the officers, shooting both in the head. After killing the officers, Davenport fled the scene but later took his own life when cornered by responding officers.
