Brian Evans, a 37-year-old male police officer with the Mansfield Police Department, tragically died on December 26, 2007. He was off-duty when he responded to a distress call at his brother Larry Evans' house in Weller Township, northeast of Mansfield. Larry Evans had been firing shots from his home, causing chaos in the neighborhood. When Brian arrived, he likely did not know the full extent of the situation, but he chose to confront his brother in an attempt to help him.
