On August 13, 2010, Damis Cherokee Raymel Crawford, a 30-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Lorain, Ohio. He was standing outside his brother's apartment at 1637 East 30th Street when a vehicle drove by and the occupants opened fire. The shooting was believed to be a retaliation for the death of a gang member, although Damis had no connection to the prior incidents.
