Malissa Williams, a 30-year-old Black woman, tragically lost her life on November 29, 2012, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a victim of a police shooting that occurred at the end of a 22-minute, 23-mile high-speed chase. The chase began when police officers mistakenly believed that shots had been fired at them from the vehicle driven by Timothy Russell, with Williams as a passenger. In reality, the sound was caused by the vehicle's exhaust pipe backfiring.
