Rudolph Edward-Anthony Calmese Jr., an 18-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on January 23, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio. Calmese was shot twice in the lower abdomen near the intersection of Stanwood Road and Delmar Drive in Bexley, Ohio. He was found lying outside of his car and later died from his injuries at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center.
Calmese was a young father who had recently re-enrolled in high school and worked at Jet's Pizza in Gahanna to support his
2-month-old son. Described as "mature beyond his years," Calmese had plans for the future, including graduating high school and starting a family. His sudden death shocked those who knew him, as he was seen as a responsible and caring individual.
Despite the tragic circumstances, the investigation into Calmese's death remains unsolved. Bexley police responded to the scene but have not identified any suspects or motives. The case is still open, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Bexley police detectives.
