Maxx A. McDaniel, a 20-year-old male from Columbus, OH, tragically lost his life on August 8, 2015. He was born on November 8, 1994, to the late Trishella McDaniel and the late Michael Graham. Maxx was known for his love of basketball and football, although he was unable to continue playing due to a health condition. He was widely recognized for his great smile and warm hugs.
Maxx's death was the result of a shooting incident at a Marathon gas station on Sullivant Avenue in the Hilltop
area of West Columbus. He was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into his death led to the arrest of Pierre C. Darty, who was charged with murder. Darty was found and arrested on Wedgewood Drive, and the case continued to be investigated by the police.
The loss of Maxx A. McDaniel deeply affected his family and friends. He is survived by his grandmother Ozella Jennings, daughter Abriana Reid, brothers Michael, Soren, and Kristian, and sisters Taryn and Devin McDaniel, along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. His funeral services were held at Trinity Baptist Church, and he was laid to rest at Eastlawn Cemetery.
The case against Pierre C. Darty brought some measure of justice for Maxx's family, but the pain of losing a young life so tragically remains. The community continues to remember Maxx for his positive spirit and the impact he had on those around him.
