On the evening of September 9, 2015, at approximately 10:43 PM, Columbus Police Department officers responded to a report of an injured male who had been pushed out of a vehicle in the 4700 block of McAllister Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Tyler Michael Smith-Crews, a Black male, suffering from a critical gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency medical services transported him to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 PM.
