Forrest Ryan, a 43-year-old man from North Canton, Ohio, tragically passed away on January 8, 2016. He was involved in an altercation at the Zodiac Bar in Akron, Ohio, where he was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at Akron City Hospital. The incident began when Ryan complained about the loud music being played by the bar's DJ, Robert Jarvis, who was 64 years old at the time.
Surveillance footage showed Jarvis seeking out Ryan and striking him three times in the head, leading to Ryan's death.
Jarvis fled the scene but turned himself in to the police shortly after. He was charged with murder and booked in the Summit County Jail. However, Jarvis later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and was sentenced to four years in prison. The judge noted that Jarvis did not intend to kill Ryan but made a conscious decision to inflict harm. Ryan's family expressed disappointment with the sentence and announced plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
The case drew significant attention due to the circumstances of the altercation and the subsequent legal proceedings. Ryan's family and friends remembered him as a loving father and an active member of his community. His death left a profound impact on those who knew him, and his family continues to seek justice for his untimely passing.
