On December 2, 2006, Dante Walker, a 28-year-old resident of Akron, Ohio, was shot on Merton Avenue. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. when an unknown assailant or assailants fired at Dante. He managed to run to 684 Merton Avenue, seeking help, but ultimately collapsed on the front porch. Emergency medical services responded to the scene, but Dante was found unresponsive, having succumbed to the gunshot wound.
