On June 2, 2024, Lateris Cook, a 27-year-old resident of Akron, Ohio, was tragically killed during a mass shooting that occurred at a large street party. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight on Kelly Avenue, where approximately 200 people had gathered to celebrate a birthday. Witnesses reported that the festive atmosphere quickly turned chaotic as multiple fights broke out, leading to gunfire that left Cook and 29 others injured.
