Rasheed Bandy, a 35-year-old man from Cleveland, OH, was tragically killed on January 21, 2016. He was one of two victims in a double homicide at The Archer apartment complex in downtown Cleveland. Following the shooting, Johnson fled Cleveland but was later captured in Muskegon, Michigan, in September 2016. He was extradited back to Ohio and faced multiple charges, including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and having weapons under disability. Johnson's criminal history included prior convictions for aggravated robbery and kidnapping dating back to 2007.
In January 2018, Johnson was found guilty of the aggravated murder of Rasheed Bandy and Brandon James. The jury's verdict marked a significant step in the legal proceedings, and the death penalty phase was scheduled to follow.
