On December 29, 2011, Reginald Hall, a 39-year-old Black male, was found dead inside a residence on Detroit’s east side, the victim of a targeted shooting that interrupted a holiday season gathering. The incident took place at a home located on Harding Street, situated between Mack and Warren Avenues, where Hall had joined several other individuals for a card game. The atmosphere of the social event was shattered when an intruder entered the premises with lethal intent.
According to investigators, the suspect walked into the home and appeared to specifically seek out Hall among the group. Witnesses described the gunman as "stalking his prey" before he opened fire, discharging multiple rounds that struck Hall in the torso. The assailant, identified by authorities as Frederick Gordon, also known by the street name "Jeezy," reportedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving the victim fatally wounded while the other attendees were left unharmed but shaken by the violence.
In the years following the murder, Frederick Gordon became the subject of an intense manhunt by the Detroit Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. Investigators characterized Gordon as a career criminal with a history of violence and drug-related offenses. Despite being placed on "Detroit's Most Wanted" list and featured in media appeals for information, Gordon managed to evade capture for a significant period. As late as May 2019, law enforcement officials continued to describe him as a fugitive at large, believed to be hiding in the Metro Detroit area or moving between states to avoid prosecution for the death of Reginald Hall.
