He was found in a front yard with multiple gunshot wounds, and a handgun was discovered near his body. The autopsy revealed that Ernest suffered gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

One of them, a 19-year-old male, was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to the hospital. The other male fled the scene before police arrived, and his identity remains unknown. Despite ongoing investigations, the case remains unsolved, and a reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Ernest's death.
