Tyquan Keion Lackey, an 18-year-old Black male from Columbus, OH, tragically lost his life on March 11, 2017. The incident occurred outside a teen party in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, where a large fight broke out. Shortly after police were called to the scene, gunshots were reported, and officers found Tyquan and two other individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Tyquan was transported to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:26 p.m.
The case remains unsolved, and authorities have been urging anyone with information to come forward. Despite efforts to revive the investigation, including a renewed call for information in December 2024, no arrests have been made, and the case is still considered a cold case. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the person or persons responsible for Tyquan's death.
The lack of cooperation from witnesses who fled the scene has been a significant challenge for the investigation. Tyquan's mother, Valerie Lackey, learned about her son's death through a Facebook post, highlighting the tragic and sudden nature of the incident. The Columbus Police Department continues to seek justice for Tyquan and his family, hoping that new information will eventually lead to a resolution.
