At the time of his death, Chase was a student at Ohio State University and worked at Produce One in Columbus. He was also a member of St. Michael's Church in Findlay.
On the night of his death, Chase was found in the parking lot of the Waffle House at 1405 N.
Cassady Avenue, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Columbus Police Officers responded to the scene at approximately 2:52 a.m. and found Chase in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at 3:06 a.m. by CFD Medic 8.
The incident remains an unsolved homicide case. The Columbus Police Department has been actively investigating the case, but no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified.
