Jeannot Mendy, a 32-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on April 24, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio. His death was the result of a violent robbery attempt by Trevor Sands, who shot Mendy in the back as he tried to defend himself with a knife. This incident occurred in Canal Winchester, and it was part of a series of violent crimes committed by Sands.
