Muhannad Osman Ahmed Afdal, a 21-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on August 15, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio. He was found with a gunshot wound to the upper abdomen in the courtyard of the Abbey Lane apartment complex on Golden Gate Square. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center, Afdal succumbed to his injuries at 10:15 p.m.
The incident occurred around 9:06 p.m.
when the Columbus Division of Police received a call about a shooting. The case was quickly classified as a homicide, and Afdal became the 81st homicide victim in Columbus that year. The Columbus Police Department and the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office have been actively investigating the case, but as of now, it remains unsolved.
Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly appealed to the public for any information that might help solve the case. The Ohio Attorney General's Office has also included Afdal's case in their cold case homicide unit, hoping to bring justice to his family. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
