Daryll Shaban Gavin, a 21-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on August 31, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio. He was one of two victims in a double shooting incident that occurred at the corner of Traymore Place and Republic Avenue. The other victim, Theodore Anthony Stokes Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene, while Gavin was transported to Grant Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries several days later.
The Columbus Police Department responded to the scene around 1:50 PM on the
day of the incident. Despite extensive investigations, the case remains unsolved, and law enforcement continues to seek information that could lead to the arrest and indictment of those responsible. Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward for any information that could help solve the case.
Gavin's family and friends have been vocal in their quest for justice, with his mother even putting up a billboard near the intersection of Hudson Street and McGuffey Road to gather information and encourage tips from the public. The community remains hopeful that someone will come forward with the necessary information to bring closure to this tragic case.
Gavin was remembered as a talented individual who enjoyed sports, music, and spending time with his family. He was employed at Honda and was close to obtaining his GED. His untimely death has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
