Robert Harrell, a 29-year-old African American male from Cleveland, OH, tragically died on October 14, 2017. He was shot in the head while arriving at a child's birthday party after his shift as an RTA bus driver. The incident occurred in the front of his car as he parked in front of the house where the party was being held.

The investigation revealed that Robert Harrell was a longtime friend of the party host, Tiffany Locke. On the day of the incident, John Neely, along with Carl Holland, III, and William Taylor, arrived at the party. Holland and Taylor were seen smoking something with a strange smell before entering the backyard. Shortly after Robert Harrell arrived, a gunshot was heard, and witnesses saw Holland walking toward Harrell's car with a gun. Deangelo Edwards, another guest at the party, testified that he saw Holland shoot Harrell.

Carl Holland, III, was later arrested and charged with murder, felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, and tampering with evidence. The trial concluded with Holland being convicted on all charges. He was sentenced to consecutive terms for his crimes.

The case drew significant attention due to the circumstances of Harrell's death and the subsequent legal proceedings against Holland. The community mourned the loss of Harrell, who was remembered as a dedicated bus driver and a beloved friend and family member.
