Christopher Pfaff, a 20-year-old male from Columbus, OH, tragically died on November 21, 2017. He was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene of a shooting in an apartment on Legacy Lane in the Hilliard Station Apartments, located south of Roberts Road between Hilliard-Rome Road and Walcutt Road on the Far West Side near Hilliard.
The Columbus police homicide unit identified two suspects in connection with Pfaff's murder.
One of the suspects, Shane Michael Daley, 23, remained at large and was considered armed and dangerous. The other suspect, Mackenzie A. Litteral, 20, was also shot during the incident but survived and was under police guard at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Amy Ballenger, who identified herself as Pfaff's sister, stated that her brother, another man, and a woman were inside the apartment when gunmen burst in and began shooting. She mentioned that her brother had been living at the apartment complex for a couple of weeks.
The investigation into Christopher Pfaff's death led to the arrest of Shane Michael Daley. The case was significant as it contributed to the city's homicide toll, which reached 120 for the year, making it the second highest on record behind only the total of 139 in 1991.
The tragic loss of Christopher Pfaff deeply affected his family and friends, who remembered him as a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. His funeral was held on November 29, 2017, at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home in Worthington, OH.
