On the evening of November 28, 2017, 28-year-old Taelor Taylor, an African American male, was found deceased on the porch of his residence in the first block of North Trenton Street in Dayton, Ohio. Responding to a 911 call, police discovered that Taylor had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Surveillance footage from Taylor's home revealed that around 10:00 p.m., three individuals approached his residence, at least two of whom were armed. The video showed these individuals entering Taylor's home, robbing him, and subsequently shooting him.

The investigation led authorities to identify two primary suspects: Trenton M. Williams, a 28-year-old male from Columbus, Ohio, and Trashune Young, also 28 years old. Both were apprehended in December 2017 after being identified through the surveillance footage. In April 2019, Young pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery, and having a weapon while under disability. He was subsequently sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Williams faced a jury trial and, in October 2019, was found guilty on multiple counts, including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and having weapons while under disability. In December 2019, he received a sentence of 31 years to life in prison, with eligibility for parole after serving 31 years.

The swift identification and apprehension of the suspects were significantly aided by the surveillance footage from Taylor's residence, which provided clear evidence of the events leading to his death. The convictions of Williams and Young brought a measure of justice for the tragic loss of Taelor Taylor, a 28-year-old African American male whose life was cut short by this senseless act of violence.
