Eric Joering, a 39-year-old police officer in Westerville, Ohio, was tragically killed on February 10, 2018. He had been with the Westerville Police Department for 16 years, serving as a patrol officer, detective, and K-9 officer. Joering was responding to a domestic violence call when he and his fellow officer, Anthony Morelli, were shot by Quentin Smith. Joering was shot three times, including in the head, and died at the scene.
