Najmuddeen Abdus Salaam, a 48-year-old Black male, was found deceased on March 29, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio. He was discovered lying on the ground near a residence on East 26th Avenue, and despite efforts by officers and medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was quickly determined to be a homicide.
Prior to his death, Salaam had been involved in legal troubles.
On May 15, 2017, an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper stopped him and found 249 grams of cocaine, along with laptops, cellphones, and $1,085 in cash, which officials claimed were proceeds from drug sales. This led to his indictment on drug-related offenses on May 25, 2016, and he was arraigned with bail set at $150,000.
Despite the evidence and his prior legal issues, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder, and the case remains unsolved. The Columbus Police Department continues to investigate, urging anyone with information to come forward.
