Brent Delaine Carr, a 36-year-old Black male from Columbus, Ohio, was fatally shot on April 15, 2018. He was found lying on the sidewalk near the street in the 900 block of Rarig Avenue, suffering from gunshot wounds. Carr was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:13 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots around 9:38 p.m., shortly after Carr had left a carryout store and started walking home alone.
The investigation into Carr's
murder remains unsolved. The Central Ohio Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made, and the case remains open. The community continues to seek justice for Carr, hoping that new leads will emerge to bring closure to his family.
Carr was known for his passion for LGBTQ issues and concerns, and he worked as a peer counselor and advocate for HIV education and prevention. He returned to Columbus in 2015 to be closer to family and friends. His family described him as someone who always put others' needs first and was known for his outgoing personality.
