Ira Jabriel Crosby, a 32-year-old Black man, was tragically killed on January 29, 2019, in Columbus, Ohio. Crosby was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the rear of a house on Ontario Street, west of East Hudson Street and Cleveland Avenue. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when a 911 caller reported a possible overdose. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Crosby's body and pronounced him dead at 10:19 p.m. Crosby's death marked the 10th murder in Columbus that year.
