On March 24, 2019, Tavon Jonquel Peterson, a 29-year-old male, was fatally shot in his northeast Columbus home. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Balsam Lake Drive, near Stelzer and McCutcheon roads. Peterson was involved in a physical altercation with another resident before several shots were fired, leading to his death. When police and medics arrived at the scene, Peterson was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the incident, police took a person of
interest into custody for questioning. This individual was later identified as 24-year-old Marton Delany Hall, who was subsequently charged with murder and taken into police custody. The case was the 25th homicide in Columbus that year.
The investigation involved questioning witnesses and the person of interest, but no further details were immediately released by the police. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers urged anyone with information to come forward.
