Brandon Lee York, a 30-year-old man from Middletown, Ohio, tragically passed away on December 17, 2019. He was born on March 24, 1989, and was the son of Jimmy York Jr. and Melissa Jackson. Brandon is survived by his father, mother, three children, and several siblings. His death was ruled a homicide by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
On the morning of December 17, 2019, Brandon York was shot near the intersection of South Twelfth and Hanover streets in Hamilton, Ohio.
After being shot, he was taken to Bethesda Butler Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Hamilton Police Department stated that the incident was not random and that the victim and suspects knew each other. However, no one was in custody at the time, and the investigation was ongoing.
Two women, Chelsea Bussell and Jamie Strack, were later charged in connection with Brandon York's death. They were indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and kidnapping. According to court records, the incident stemmed from a deception aimed at getting another man to leave his residence and get into a vehicle with the intent to cause serious physical harm. During the commission of these alleged crimes, Brandon York was shot. Detectives served search warrants connected to the case shortly after the shooting.
Chelsea Bussell eventually pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to three to four and a half years in prison. Jamie Strack's trial was scheduled for early the following year. The case involved multiple legal proceedings and investigations, with both defendants remaining incarcerated awaiting trial.
