Savon Anthony Pullie, a 21-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Canal Winchester, Ohio, tragically passed away on January 12, 2020. He was born on October 22, 1998, to Todd Pullie and Tiffany Sealscott in Columbus, Ohio. Savon graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 2017 and was well-loved by his family and friends.
On January 12, 2020, Savon was driving a vehicle when he was shot by Darnell Rashan Walton, a 19-year-old male.
The shooting occurred near Georges Creek Drive in Canal Winchester. After being shot, Savon's vehicle crashed into a townhome, igniting a fire that spread to a second townhouse. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames, Savon's body was found inside the vehicle. Another passenger in the vehicle, Todd Hammond Jr., managed to escape with minor injuries.
Following the incident, Columbus police issued a murder warrant for Darnell Rashan Walton. Walton was later arrested by SWAT officers in east Columbus without incident. He was charged with murder in connection with Savon's death. The investigation revealed that Walton was identified by witnesses as the shooter. Walton is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail awaiting trial.
The tragic death of Savon Anthony Pullie has deeply affected his family, friends, and the community. A memorial gathering was held in his honor, and donations were encouraged to be made to the Reynoldsburg High School Athletics Department in his memory.
