On July 24, 2020, 14-year-old Elijah Copley was tragically shot and killed while riding a scooter with a friend near the intersection of West Rich Street and Dana Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. Elijah, a compassionate and energetic young boy who always brought joy into a room, was struck by gunfire during the early hours of the morning. Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries later that day.
