On January 27, 2021, Tristan Foor, a 22-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was fatally shot at a home on Aspen Pine Boulevard. Foor was invited to the residence by Sydney Freshour, who, along with Elias Malone, planned to rob him. When Foor arrived, Malone confronted him and shot him multiple times in the head, chest, shoulder, and back. Foor fell down the stairs, and Malone followed, continuing to shoot him.
Foor was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Elias Malone, age 22, was arrested at the scene and admitted to shooting Foor. He was later charged with murder and tampering with evidence. Malone pleaded guilty to the murder charge and was sentenced to 15 years to life, plus an additional three years for the use of a firearm, totaling 18 years to life.
Sydney Freshour, age 20, was also charged in connection with Foor's death. She was indicted on charges of murder, aggravated robbery, robbery, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence. Freshour turned herself in to authorities and faced trial for her role in the crime.
The investigation revealed that Freshour lured Foor to the home with the intention of robbing him, and Malone carried out the shooting. Both Malone and Freshour were taken into custody and faced legal proceedings for their involvement in the crime.
Foor's death was the 20th homicide in Columbus in 2021, highlighting the city's ongoing struggle with violent crime. The case drew significant attention from law enforcement and the community, emphasizing the need for increased safety measures and efforts to reduce violence in the area.
