Andrew Peter Hogan, a 25-year-old man from Trotwood, Ohio, tragically died on February 5, 2021, in Dayton, Ohio. Hogan was involved in an incident with Trotwood police officers who responded to a shoplifting complaint at a Speedway gas station on Olive Road. The officers were given a description of the suspect and quickly located a man matching the description walking near the Kensington Apartment Complex.
When the officers attempted to stop Hogan, he reportedly struck one of the officers and fled into an apartment building. Hogan then opened the door with a knife in his hand and lunged at an officer, who fatally shot him.
