Office, the Major Crimes Task Force, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. During the investigation, Tyler Thompson, a 28-year-old man from Belle Valley, was identified as a suspect. Thompson was taken into custody and charged with Hines’ death. He faced multiple charges, including aggravated murder, murder, and tampering with evidence.
The case went to trial, and on November 10, 2021, Tyler Thompson was found guilty on all charges by a jury. The jury’s verdict was based on evidence presented during the trial, including testimonies and forensic analysis. Following the guilty verdict, Thompson was remanded to the custody of the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, awaiting his sentencing hearing.
On November 22, 2021, Thompson was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the aggravated murder of Leah Brooke Hines. Additionally, he received a 24-month sentence for tampering with evidence, to be served concurrently with his life sentence. The sentencing was carried out by Noble County Common Pleas Judge Kelly Riddle.
