On August 9, 2021, 13-year-old Londan Hill was tragically shot and killed while visiting family in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Londan, who was visiting from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was inside a home on Woodview Road when several shots were fired into the rear of the house from a nearby backyard. The young boy was caught in the crossfire and succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Londan's death led to the arrest of two juvenile suspects.
A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody shortly after the incident, and a 16-year-old boy turned himself in a few days later. Both suspects were charged with the murder of Londan Hill. The Cleveland Heights Police Department confirmed that the suspects were known to each other and that the shooting appeared to be a targeted act.
Londan's mother, Rebekkah Wilson, expressed her grief and desire for justice during a virtual memorial service held for her son. She emphasized that Londan was a kind and helpful boy who did not deserve to be a victim of such violence. In the wake of her son's death, Wilson announced plans to open a youth center in Londan's name, called Londan Bridges, to provide resources and support for troubled youth.
