On September 27, 2021, 18-year-old Avante Beatty was shot and killed in Avondale, Cincinnati, OH. He was found with gunshot wounds on Lexington Avenue and was later pronounced dead at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m., and Cincinnati police were called to the scene.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect, who was charged with murder in March 2022.
The suspect was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest. Another 16-year-old was also charged in connection with Beatty's death. The case continued to develop, and in February 2024, a teen named Michael Madaris, who was 15 years old at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to his role in Beatty's murder as well as two other killings. Madaris was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
