Rhonda Rene Wade, a 62-year-old White woman from Larue, Texas, was remembered for her bubbly personality and a radiant smile that could light up a room. She worked for many years in accounting and was an excellent cook who loved preparing meals for her family. Rhonda also had a passion for her yard, where she enjoyed planting and nurturing her flowers.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she left behind a legacy of love for her children and grandchildren, who, along with her close friends, will dearly miss her energy and warmth.
The morning of Saturday, May 11, 2024, turned tragic when Henderson County deputies were dispatched to a residence in Larue at 8:56 a.m. They were responding to a report of a murder and attempted suicide. Inside, authorities discovered that Rhonda Wade had been fatally shot. Her 72-year-old husband, Raymond Franklin Wade, was also found at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
An investigation was launched by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Texas Rangers. According to Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, investigators believe that Raymond Wade shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. The sheriff noted that the couple had been experiencing marital issues. Rhonda's body was sent for an autopsy on Monday, May 13, while her husband was transported to a hospital for medical treatment for his injuries.
While still hospitalized, Raymond Franklin Wade was arraigned by a judge on Wednesday, May 15. He was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife. Though still receiving medical care, he was placed in the custody of the sheriff's office. His bond was set at $1 million. As of May 2024, the case was proceeding through the legal system.
