Anthony Wayne Lewis was arrested on May 13, 2022, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with murder and held without bail in the Franklin County Jail. Lewis faced additional charges of aggravated menacing, domestic violence, and assault from a separate case. He was scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on June 30, 2022.
The investigation revealed that Lewis used a handgun to shoot Green during their confrontation. The case drew significant attention from local law enforcement and the community, as efforts were made to bring justice for Tobias Green's death.
In a plea agreement, Anthony Wayne Lewis eventually pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, and the murder charges were dropped. He was sentenced to 10 to 13 ½ years in prison.
