Reynard Reed, a 46-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 15, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Lilley Avenue, where police responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Reynard Reed lying on the sidewalk in front of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach.
Emergency medical personnel transported him to Grant Medical Center in extremely critical condition, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m. that evening.
Investigators determined that Reynard Reed had been involved in an altercation that escalated into gunfire. Authorities later identified 18-year-old Jonathan Hopkins as the suspect in the shooting. A murder warrant was issued for Hopkins, who subsequently turned himself in to the Franklin County Jail. He was arraigned and given a $500,000 bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for July 29, 2022.
