Kevin Sobnosky, a 21-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity from Girard, Ohio, tragically died on October 30, 2022, in Columbus, OH. One of the suspects, 18-year-old Keimariyon Ross, fired multiple rounds from a Draco pistol, which is capable of firing the same size bullets as an AK-47 rifle. Ross claimed he fired in self-defense during the shootout, but surveillance footage showed him standing up in a vehicle and firing more than half a dozen shots at Sobnosky's car.
In the aftermath of the incident, Columbus police identified several persons of interest and made two arrests. Keimariyon Ross was charged with murder and other related offenses. Another suspect, Tyyan Sullivan, was arrested for his role in the shooting and pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault and a gun specification. Sullivan received a nine-to-10.5-year prison sentence.
The case concluded with Ross being convicted on multiple charges, including two counts of murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 32 years. The Sobnosky family and the community have mourned his loss and honored his memory through various tributes and vigils.
