Kayla was born on June 21, 1993, to her parents Sinnie Nelson and Tracy Davis Sr. She is survived by her three children: one daughter, Heaven Young, and two sons, Micha Davis and Kendrick Young Jr.

Juvall Jenkins, a 31-year-old man from Miami Township, was subsequently indicted by a Montgomery County Grand Jury on two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault on January 3, 2023. He entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 15 years to life, with an additional three years for using a firearm, totaling 18 years to life in prison. The sentencing took place on December 10, 2024.
