On September 8, 2004, in Charlotte, North Carolina, 66-year-old Mary Chappell was tragically killed by her neighbor, 58-year-old Jerry Lamar Hanna. Following the incident, Jerry Lamar Hanna took his own life.

In addition to Mary Chappell, 56-year-old Deanna Hanna, the wife of Jerry Lamar Hanna, was also a victim in this tragic event.
