Jaylen Laney, a 2-year-old African American boy, tragically lost his life on January 2, 2006, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jaylen was shot in the head at close range while on the front porch of his aunt's apartment. The incident occurred on a Monday night, and Jaylen was immediately taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
