Jorie N. Washington, a 43-year-old African American woman from Elizabeth City, NC, tragically lost her life on December 19, 2006. She was shot to death at her home on Uncle Buddy Drive along with her 18-year-old son, Xavier Z. Washington. The perpetrator, Samuel Junior Jackson, was her live-in boyfriend at the time. Jackson, who was 55 years old, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
