Jeff Shelton, a 35-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on March 31, 2007, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Officer Shelton, along with his colleague Officer Sean Clark, responded to a disturbance call at an East Charlotte housing complex on Barrington Drive. After resolving the disturbance, they engaged in a conversation with a man unrelated to the initial call. As they turned to walk away, the man produced a gun and shot both officers in the back.
