Bessie Elizabeth Hedrick, a 78-year-old woman from Carthage, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on March 29, 2009. She was a resident at Pinelake Health and Rehab Center in Carthage when she became one of the victims of a horrific shooting. The incident resulted in the deaths of eight people, including Ms. Hedrick. The perpetrator, Robert K. Stewart, was the estranged husband of an employee at the nursing home. Stewart faced multiple counts of first-degree murder for his actions.
