On September 2, 2013, Terry Williams, age 22, was shot and killed in Detroit, Michigan, during what appeared to be an attempted robbery. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning. His death is part of Detroit's significant backlog of unsolved homicides, which have overwhelmed the resources of the local police department. More than 8,000 homicides have taken place in Detroit since 1980, with nearly two-thirds still unsolved as of 2021.
