Nancy Margarita Pedraza, a 23-year-old woman from Raleigh, NC, tragically died on June 4, 2012, from a gunshot wound to the neck. The incident occurred on April 27, 2012, during an argument with her boyfriend, Anthony Lucas Villaroel, 23, in a car parked outside a condominium complex at 4911 Hollenden Drive. Initially, Villaroel was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. However, after Pedraza succumbed to her injuries at WakeMed, the charge was upgraded to murder.
